Telefon Tel Aviv - “Helen Of Troy”
Chicago-based electronic duo Telefon Tel Aviv has been a favorite of mine for some time now. TTA’s music, which seems to change dramatically from album to album, can generally be described as IDM or ambient, but it’s always good listening. Sadly, just days after the band released their third album, Immolate Yourself, the duo suffered the death of one of the members, Charles Cooper, who was an all-too-young 31.
“Helen of Troy”, the lead-off single from Immolate Yourself, feels a bit like someone spilled some New Wave into my IDM, but its moody moaning makes this an appropriate-feeling track to mourn the loss of a talented musician.
