Spor - Nude (Spor Remix)
For the past month or so, Radiohead has been running a remix contest centered around the song Nude off their latest album, In Rainbows. Voting for the contest ended May 1st, and this remix by Spor was the clear winner, coming out 3562 votes ahead of the second place winner, Holy Fuck (which I also recommend checking out).
Spor’s remix changes the minimal arrangement of the original song to include some scratching and piano, while dropping the haunting, almost ghostly, backing vocals in favor of just Yorke’s vocal track. This gives the song a notably different feel, one I might like better than the original.
For those of you who like Spor’s remix, it can be downloaded here.
Amplive - Weird Fishez
I’m not sure how this ended up on my iTunes, but I’m glad it did. Rainydayz is a collection of remixes inspired by In Rainbows. Every song is extremely mellow, making this the perfect album for just takin’ it easy. I’m starting my Friday off right by keeping this on repeat…
Bjork - Wanderlust (Ratatat remix)
Ratatat continue their penchant for remixing Scandinavian artists (The Knife, Shout Out Louds) with this remix of “Wanderlust”.
The first few times I played this, I put it on and got on with what I was doing, and by the time the track changed, I realised I hadn’t really heard it. It’s a Bjork thing, I think. But once you actually listen to it, Ratatat’ synth/vocal sound works well with Bjork’s voice.
