If you’re in the mood to continue your 4th of July weekend, this is the perfect muxtape for you. I’m going out, and I think you should too :)
Everybody hates Mondays, which is exactly why we’ve created Muxtape Monday. The premise is simple: each Monday the Tuneage staff will highlight a muxtape we’ve been enjoying. If you have a muxtape you think deserves highlighting, let us know, otherwise just sit back and enjoy.
It’s officially summer, and this Muxtape is all about staying mellow. Much like the perfect Gin & Tonic, this muxtape is best consumed on a sweltering afternoon. This refreshing blend starts out with Working for a Nuclear Free City’s Dead Fingers Talking, and then settles into what can only be described as “bliss.” So take a break; you’ve earned it.
As I prepare for final exams, I’ve noticed myself gravitating toward muxtapes. The short 45 minute to hour long bursts of great mixes seem to help my mind stay fresh and receptive. If you are in the same boat, you should give these a listen. If you aren’t, I still recommend checking them out.
One of my favorite things about music is that once a song is out there, anyone with the chops to play the tune can whip up their own version of it. Of course there are good covers and bad covers, but if you ask me, the best cover songs are the ones that aren’t just a regurgitation of the original, but rather explore an aspect of the song not found in the original. So with that in mind, the Tuneage “staff” have each chosen their favorite covers:
We’ve uploaded these to the Tuneage muxtape along with a few other favorites, so head over there and give ‘em a listen. And if you can think of any excellent covers we’ve overlooked, call us names in the comments and tell us what we missed.
