Here’s the video for Lykke Li’s “Breaking It Up”, directed by Sarah Chatfield. In it, we see a sexier-than-ever Lykke Li busting some moves, and treating men like dirt, all from behind a generous layer of eye shadow. This excellently-shot video is a must-see.
And if you want even more Lykke Li, be sure to check out the latest chapter of La Blogotheque, which saw Lykke Li and El Perro Del Mar collaborating on a couple of songs.
The Hood Internet make mashups — very good mashups, actually — and the occasional mixtape. Now, we didn’t think this morning’s Holy Fuck news could be topped, but then The Hood Internet released a mini-mixtape.
They’ve mixed 6 tracks from Lykke Li’s upcoming album with various things — ranging from Digitalism and Hercules & Love affair to Booka Shade and Gui Boratto — and created something that is surprisingly enjoyable to listen to (not that the original isn’t great or anything).
If you ask me, Lykke Li draws immediate comparisons to another Scandinavian pop artist, Annie, and this is a good thing. I’m Good, I’m Gone is a track from Li’s 2008 debut Youth Novels that has a foot-tapping bass track, a smattering of piano, and is undeniably fun vocal track.
And on top of all that, it features hand clapping, and is there a better way to kick off a beautiful Friday than with a song that includes hand claps. No. No there isn’t.
