Human Highway - “The Sound”
If you like the Islands, but have always wondered what they’d sound like with a more 60s/70s pop/folk-influenced sound, then wonder no more.
“The Sound” comes to us from Human Highway, a sideproject from Islands frontman Nick Thorburn and former Islands member Jim Guthrie. “The Sound” feels a bit like Paul Simon, and has an airy, bouncy quality that makes for a great Friday song. “The Sound” is the lead-off track to Human Highway’s first album Moody Motorcycle, due out August 19th on Suicide Squeeze.

The Islands - “The Arm” (from their Daytrotter Session)
It’s no secret that we at Tuneage love Daytrotter, especially their excellent Daytrotter Sessions. It’s also no secret that we love The Islands, which makes today’s Daytrotter Session perfect Tuneage fodder. The Islands’ session features 1 cover, 1 track off their upcoming album, Arm’s Way, and 2 cuts from their debut album Return to the Sea.
We’re featuring “The Arm”, a song from the upcoming album. The track uses a far more stripped-down arrangement which gives the song a more raw feel than the album version. Give “The Arm” a listen, then head over to Daytrotter to hear the rest of the session, it’s one of the best I’ve heard in a while.

Islands - Creeper
If you’re looking for a near-perfect driving song for this weekend, look no further. The Islands’ Creeper has everything you want: a steady beat, good bass, simple lyrics, and very high turn-it-up-ability.
Creeper is the second single (I think) from the Islands’ upcoming album, The Arm’s Way, due on May 20th.
