Iggy Pop - Candy

If asked what I consider to be the best duet of the past or present, I’d choose Iggy Pop’s “Candy”. The Godfather of Punk’s most successful single to date features the heavenly vocals of B-52’s songstress Kate Pierson and it’s a major departure from his raucous work with the Stooges. Yet, the ragged vulnerablity in his voice on “Candy” is nothing less than convincing, especially when juxtaposed with the melancholic sweetness of Kate’s.

“Candy” is a pop-rock love duet done right: it’s sincere without being cloying and showcases two of the most captivating voices in rock history. Plus, it’s a great song to play while rollerskating solo in the April sunshine.
