Lil’ Wayne - “Lollipop (feat. Static Major)”

Tha Carter III. If you haven’t heard it yet, you’ve probably at least heard of it. It would be hard not to, really; The Carter III was one of the most hyped albums this year (and probably last year, after most of the album leaked), and based on the reviews and my own non-expert judgment, it doesn’t disappoint. So here’s one of the tracks; “Lollipop” has great summer jam potential, and enough auto-tune to make T-Pain jealous, but in a good way, sort of.

Anyway, most of the album can be heard here, if you’ve somehow managed to miss all the hype, and the leaks, and the mixtapes featuring tracks, and so on.

Björk - Wanderlust

Wanderlust cover

If you haven’t seen the video to this song yet, do it now! I was tempted to post a lower quality version, but thought better of it. Apparently, this video is also in 3D, which I’m sure is equally awesome. Wanderlust is the latest single off of Volta, an album continuing Björk’s tradition of releasing absolutely stunning music. Like I said before, go watch the video. It will blow your mind.

Note: this was reblogged into Tuneage because Russell accidentally posted it to his personal blog. Crazy kids…

Common - The Light

From 2000’s “Like Water For Chocolate”, The Light is a track that takes me back to Freshmen year.  Upon arrival music discovery became ingrained in my day to day activities.  I heard this first from my roommate Brad aka DJ Fastcode (bukka bukka) and listened to it 15 times in a row.  ”The Light” introduced me not only to Common, but to Jay Dee and subsequently DJ Premier and Gang Starr.  Thank goodness, that shit is hot.

Day One - Bad Before Good

Day One are one of the great bands to come out of Bristol’s Trip Hop scene. This track comes from their 2005 album Probably Art. (You can buy it from their record label’s shop here, if you like it.)

M.I.A. - Paper Planes (remix for the children by Adrock)

Everyone has heard M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” by now, right? This remix of it comes from Paper Planes: Homeland Security Remixes. Most of the remixes on it are actually fairly boring, but this one is quite fun. The other great one is the Big Gun & Rich Boy remix, but everyone has heard that one.
