Grandchildren - “Saturn Returns”

I know, I know. Lots of artists have put spins on this planet and its return. Grandchildren’s “Saturn Returns” is a little frantic, unpredictable, and scattered with pauses of contemplative sighs. Altogether beautiful and realistic, the song’s a bold mixture of acoustic, claps, and other sounds that are strangely unfamiliar and quilted into a great upbeat rhythm. It’s a celebration of something new, feeling old feelings, inviting a little fear, and growing intensely until the end without losing too much ground. The sound and architecture here have pretty much captured my life, or how I’d like to live it, and I’m still stretching to hear all the words.

My friend lent me their self-released demo album Cold Warrior, given to her by Roman Salcic of Grandchildren. They’re based out of Philly. This is definitely one of our favorite bands, so please check out all 5 songs on their MySpace if you get a moment to enjoy this.
