Dragonette - The Boys (Calvin Harris cover)

It’s hard not to think of London-based electro-pop group Dragonette as purveyors of great remix fodder, rather than a great act in their own right. And that seems to hold true when you look at the number of acts that have remixed tracks from their first album, Galore: on the list are greats like Midnight Juggernauts, Van She, Felix Cartel, The Toxic Avenger, and Kissy Sellout.
But this track, which the music blogs went crazy for last year, turns that around. It’s their cover of Calvin Harris’s great, bravado-fuelled hit from last year “The Girls” (he likes them all, if you remember). As you might expect from an act with a girl on vocals, they’ve flipped it around and called it “The Boys”. It stays pretty faithful to the original, but perhaps sounds a little more like what LCD Soundsystem would sound like if they liked boys.
