Camera Obscura - “French Navy

A college buddy of mine (hey Siler!) used to describe Camera Obscura as “twee as fuck”, and I’d say that’s about right. Perfect pop hooks (complete with horns!), cute lyrics, and adorable harmonies are the defining characteristics of this Glasgow, Scotland band. So it should come as no surprise that the first single and lead-off track from their upcoming album My Maudlin Career (being released April 20th on 4AD records), “French Navy”, is a perfect spring ditty about love. Now, if I could just get the weather outside to actually feel like spring, I’d be all set.

Camera Obscura - Let’s Get Out of this Country

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Camera Obscura is (currently) a 6-piece band specializing in a Belle and Sebastian-esque style of indie pop.

Their 2006 album, Let’s Get Out of this Country, is one I associate with Spring/Summer. In fact, I can always tell when Spring’s starting because the urge to listen to this album on repeat hits me like a tons of bricks, just like it did yesterday.
