Rilo Kiley - “Breakin’ Up”

This song came on during a recent weekend trip to Chicago while my wife was sifting through Banana Republic’s spring line, and as evidenced by my dance-walking through the halls of my office for the past week, “Breakin’ Up” has been stuck in my head ever since. In the past, I’ve been fairly vocal about my dislike for Rilo Kiley’s fourth album, Under the Blacklight, but after having this song stuck in my head for almost a week, I decided it deserved another listen. Yes, I still think the album is a bit, um, “eclectic”, but it’s an undeniably fun album with a few standout tracks. The fun songs on the album are all perfect Friday morning songs, but this song about breaking up and not being upset about it is the one for today.
