Florence & the Machine - “Heavy in Your Arms”
I want to talk about Alexandra Pastsavas for a second. You probably don’t know that name - which is understandable but still a shame. She is the music supervisor behind some of the behind indie/rock alternative soundtracks emerging in the last few years on TV and the movies.
Say what you will about Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, The O.C and yes, the Twilight Sagas, but their soundtracks are filled with really phenomenal music: Bon Iver, Ok Go, Cee Lo Green (who takes on a less R&B feeling in his song), Florence And The Machine, The Kills, The Virgins, Band of Horses, Metric, and on and on. Put together by her company, Chop Shop, Patsavas is slowly shining a light on some of the great indie artists out there.
And while picking one track to feature from Chop Shop’s repertoire is pretty much impossible, I’m going to go with Florence & The Machine because she is blowing up right now. Honorable mentions go to Cee Lo Green’s “What Part of Forever” and Ok GO’s “Shooting the Moon.”
