Faces on Film - “I’ll Sleep to Protect You”

Tuneage first heard about Faces on Film as a result of our request for submissions. Faces on Film stuck out because their music had that familiar-yet-distinct quality we always look for in new tunes. The vocals in Faces on Film recall the Walkmen and the Annuals (among others), while the music shines through its wide variety. “I’ll Sleep to Protect You”, the second track on their self-released 2008 album The Troubles, has a dark, Modest Mouse quality to it. The slow and brooding nature of the song echoes the heaviness of the lyrics, and demonstrates perfectly the “familiar-yet-distinct” quality I mentioned earlier.
