Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walking
A classic of the ’60s, it is one of the only songs I can guarantee all of my friends and family members know at least the chorus. Listening to this pop classic puts me in a great mood (although I have yet to pull out my gogo boots or the hairspray). Although the daughter of the famed actor isn’t quite a one hit wonder, this song made her into an icon. Good thing too, since daddy dearest originally insisted she not sing the song.
It hit #1 in the US and UK in ‘66 and has been covered by bands like Megadeth, Billy Ray Cyrus (mullet and all), Crispin Glover and Lil’ Kim. It’s possible I spent the last 45 minutes watching various covers, but nothing lives up to the original, of course. You can’t really reinvent this classic.
I really don’t even need to explain, but to let you all know, when I wear boots, I think of this song, and my hips sway...
this is my theme song. you don’t understand. seriously. background music to my life.
This song always reminds me of Full Metal Jacket.

The only day that I won’t love this song is the day I die - and even then, I’ll cling to it with my cold, dead hands.
