Joanna Newsom - “Bridges and Balloons”

Lately, I think I have a ‘thing’ for chicks with unusual voices (check out my last post to see what I’m talking about)! Joanna Newsom is known for her high pitched, “child-like” voice and harp playing, but she’s also known to play the piano and harpsichord. This track comes from her 2004 release The Milk-Eyed Mender.

I enjoy associating music with seasons, and I find Newsom’s music fits the fall perfectly. I suggest getting a copy if you don’t already have this album and like what you hear. It’s gorgeous and soothing, but not boring.

Somewhat related: another one of Newsom’s songs, “Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie” is currently being featured on this HSBC commercial, which I’ve been seeing a lot lately.
