Jacob Metcalf - “Fjord”

Just incase you thought that Austin was the only place in Texas with good music I will direct you about 3 hours to the north to Dallas.  The week before SXSW there was a music festival in the town of Denton which saw several local artists from around the metroplex playing to packed bars and house shows.  The highlight of the festival was Midlake and the Flaming Lips playing a free show for over 10,000 people.  

It was while waiting for this show that a group of what seemed to be traveling minstrels started entertaining the crowd.  They go by the moniker “Dallas Family Band” but they are in fact several bands from the Dallas who all make music together.  Jacob Metcalf (along with the rest of the family) makes delightfully folky music that is sure to make your hips shuffle.   Be sure to head over to DallasFamilyBand.com and listen to all that they have to offer.
