John Coltrane - “Giant Steps” (Alternate Take)

Today (that is, 9/23) marks the birth of a legend.  John Coltrane was a man who saw more than his fair share of tragedy, pain, joy, and pleasure.  An inspiration to me while in high school, I tried to evoke his essence in everything I did.  I quickly observed that this was no way to appreciate such an artist.  Let Trane’s incredible deluge of notes wash over you and know that you will never hear anything like that from anyone else.  Ever.
