She & Him - “Gonna Get Along Without You Now”

I am an unabashed fan of She & Him. Their cute, quasi-country, throwback style is something that I don’t seem to tire of, and its generally uplifting feel makes it an easy go-to when I have company over and don’t want to upset them with a “difficult” musical choice. Plus, let’s be honest, Zooey Deschanel is adorable.

Today marks the release of She & Him’s second album, the aptly titled Volume Two, and while it may not break any new ground (heck, not even the first album did that), fans of the first are likely to be fans of this one as well. This song, a cover of a Skeeter Davis record, is one of the two cover songs on the album, and the “impossibly perky” (as Pitchfork called them) ah-has and mm-hmms are not to be missed.
