Neko Case - “Deep Red Bells”

I received my penchant for female singer/songwriters from my father. Seriously, the man is completely head over heels for them. So, in honor of Father’s Day, I thought I’d post something he’d like.

When she’s not playing as part of The New Pornographers, Neko Case may well top the list of my favorite female singer/songwriters. Her music leans a little alt-country and her lyrics are sometimes dark, but her voice is almost second-to-none. “Deep Red Bells” appears on Case’s third album, Blacklisted, and is hands-down my favorite track with imagery that perfectly complements the tone of the song. Given my father’s love of female vocalists, I think this just might be up his alley.
