Mumpsy - 3 People
We had a track by Mumpsy — “64 Colours” — on the first episode of our podcast, but I want to make sure they get all the attention they deserve.
They’re a six-piece from Orlando whose songs alternately take inspiration from the Brit Pop sensibilities of bands like the Kinks, the punk influence of the Misfits, and the lo-fi charm of bands like Of Montreal. Every song sounds different, and you never know what you’ll get — “Wha Da Hook Gon B” is an extreme example of this. The only constant throughout their music is that they sound great. And if you need a better testimonial: John Frusciante loves them.
