The OaKs - Masood
The OaKs are a 6-piece outfit hailing from Orlando, FL (note to self: keep an eye on Orlando). The OaKs make use of numerous instruments, from the standard guitars and drums to the not-quite-so-standard accordions, mandolins, xylophones and pianicas, and their sound benefits immensely from this multi-instrumentation.
Masood (a song with an amazing story behind it) is the first single from The OaKs’ latest album, Songs for the Waiting, and is one of my favorites from the album. It does a great job of highlighting was I think are the band’s strongest suits: pleasing melodies, varied instrumentation, and strong songwriting.
Songs for the Waiting isn’t available on Amazon’s MP3 service yet (although it is available on iTunes), but the moment it hits AmazonMP3, I’ll be buying it. I recommend you do the same. However, if you’re interested in streaming Songs for the Waiting in its entirety, you can do so here.
