Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen - Hot Rod Lincoln
A coworker and I started talking about the best car songs this morning. I cast my vote for Little Deuce Coupe by the Beach Boys, and he cast his for a song I’d never heard, Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen. Once we tracked down the song, a shadow of doubt was cast upon my vote: Hot Rod Lincoln was a pretty fun song.
The song is a quick-paced, “insurgent country” tune that reminds me a bit of ZZ Top and Charlie Daniels. Plus, with an opening lyric like “My daddy said boy you’re gonna drive me to drinkin’ if you don’t stop driving that Hot Rod Lincoln”, how can possibly you go wrong?
