So, you know how Annie is pretty cutesy, right? (Go ahead, I’ll wait.) Well, have you heard of Smoosh? They’re even cuter. The album this track comes from was recorded when they were 10 and 12.
An ex-girlfriend found this song on a Rough Trade compilation some years ago and insisted on subjecting me to it. The album has been something of an occasional guilty pleasure since. I tried to compare them to another act, but all I could think to compare it to was my 12-year-old sister singing along to her favourite song du jour, and I doubt you’ve heard that. So you’ll just have to listen to it. Rad.
I’d avoid the album, unless you want to hear a 12-year-old trying to rap, and instead just keep this track on hold for those days when you just need to smile.
