My Brightest Diamond - Golden Star (Cabin Session)
To get into My Brightest Diamond, you really have to give into singer Shara Worden’s aesthetic, which lies somewhere between wood nymph, punk rock, and space alien. She’s Brooklyn’s Bjork, really. You just have to be ok with a kooky little fairy singing intensely at you for a few minutes.
But get past the weirdness, and Shara has one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long, long time. It’s scary and shrill and fanciful and creepy. I kind of love it, and I hope you do too.
